Job Summary
Systron Donner Inertial (SDI), part of the Custom Sensors and Technologies Division of Schneider Electric, is
looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer. For more than four decades, Systron Donner Inertial has been the leading provider of precision
inertial sensors, including rate of rotation and multi-axis inertial sensor suites, serving the commercial, military and aerospace markets.
Our innovative designs of angular rate sensors, linear accelerometers, and inertial measurement systems provide advanced guidance and control
capability for a wide range of applications such as advanced missile systems, aircraft heading and reference instrumentation, aircraft flight
control, and aircraft navigation.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Utilizes knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, process methods, and Six
Sigma/Lean techniques to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
- Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Determines and specifies, revises and/or reviews the most cost effective methods, operation sequence, and tooling for the fabrication of wafers.
- Provides technical guidance and is the liaison to production operations, assists supervisor with new techniques, and may assist in the determination
of causes of rejected parts and their disposition.
- Develops assembly guides, procedures, and illustrations. May participate in cost studies and equipment recommendations.
- Works with Engineering, Quality, and CEM groups closely, monitoring process and quality procedures.
- Participates on concurrent continuous improvement projects supporting yield improvements, reduction of labor hours, cycle times, and creating documentation.
- Work with Environmental Compliance department closely to ensure QFAB safety and compliance standards are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
:
- 1. A Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or equivalent.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 3 years related experience in a MEMS production environment.
- Wafer processing experience.
- Good problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and Lean techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform complex activities relating
to the design, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical
devices and systems.
- Perform state-of-the-art product
development activities, including drawing board layout and interpretation, and
implementation of customer specifications. Assignments require the frequent
use of initiative and judgment.
- Provide work leadership and
training to lower level professional and technical staff.
- Design and implement cost-effective
equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput.
- Develop project specifications with
colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines.
- Develop, test, and evaluate
theoretical designs.
- Discuss and solve complex problems
with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
- Ensure product can be made again reliably and that it
will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
- Manage projects using engineering principles and
techniques.
- Plan and design new production processes while
considering the implications of cost, safety, and time constraints.
- Produce details of specifications and outline designs.
- Recommend modifications in light of prototype test
results.
- Use research, analytical, conceptual and planning
skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.

Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in
Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required. Masters Degree in Mechanical
Engineering desired.
- 5 – 7 years of related work
experience with emphasis on design for manufacturability.
- Sensor packaging
experience. Inertial sensors experience is a plus.
- CAD experience required,
with all of the analytic tools for vibration, shock, and thermal.
- Must be able to understand
isolation systems to minimize shock and vibration inputs at specific
frequencies to minimize response of sensors.
- MEMS experience beneficial.
- Ability to conceptualize new designs from scratch.

- Performs a variety of operations in wafer fabrication.
- Set up equipment.
- Perform production processes such as photo-resist application, spin, bake, align,
expose, develop/inspect, oxide and metal etching and wafer cleaning according to specifications.
- Inspects wafers to ensure proper alignment and final wafer quality.
- Maintains log of processed and in-process wafers.
- May assist in training lower level operator.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years as a Wafer Fab Operator II, depending on job knowledge.
